Dr. Sharlene Bird is a trilingual, (English, Spanish, and Yiddish) and multi-cultural Licensed Clinical Psychologist who practices in mid-town Manhattan, NYC. She has over 25+ years' experience as a distinguished clinician, supervisor and presenter. In addition, she is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Supervisor, an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Provider and Consultant, a (CBT) Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and an (SEP) Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Dr. Bird is also a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU/Langone School of Medicine, where she supervises and presents didactic seminars for the doctoral interns at Bellevue Hospital.

In her professional career, she has lectured frequently nationally and internationally on subjects such as, “The Changing Mental Health Landscape and the Latino Practitioner: Changing Trends in Treatment,” “Sexual Attitudes and Behaviors in the Hispanic Culture,” “Helping Young Adults Discuss Sexuality With Their Children,” and “Issues in Sexuality in the Latino Community,” to name a few.

              She has contributed monthly Spanish-language articles on themes of sexuality for Penthouse Magazine’s “Lo Ultimo” (“The Latest”). For six years she co-hosted a weekly New York and Miami open mic radio talk show on sexuality entitled “Siempre a tu Lado” (“Always at Your Side”). Additionally, she has appeared on numerous English & Spanish language media such as, Telemundo, CBS Telenoticias NY/CNN Internacional, Good Day New York (Channel 5, FOX/NY), as well as Latina and Hispanic Magazines.

              Dr. Bird is affiliated with professional organizations that include, but are not limited to: New York University-Bellevue Psychiatric Society, American Psychological Association (including the Society for the Psychological Study of Ethnic Minority Issues), and the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Hispanic Mental Health Professionals, Latino Behavioral Care Network, and Mothers of Children with AIDS (MOCA).
